Video: Saturday's Action In La Liga And Serie A

Lionel Messi's brace helped Barcelona recover from going a goal down at bottom side Almeria to record a 3-1 victory in La Liga. Bottom side Almeria defended stoutly and struck shortly after the interval when Miguel Angel Corona finished off a slick counter attack, but two minutes later a Messi penalty levelled the contest. Thiago popped up to score with a header to put Barcelona in front, and Messi added some gloss to the scoreline with a late solo effort.

Kaka scored twice from the penalty spot to lead a weakened Real Madrid to a 3-0 victory at Athletic Bilbao to keep their title hopes alive. The Brazilian midfielder netted early in each half after Angel Di Maria was twice brought down in the area, and Cristiano Ronaldo came off the bench to seal victory with his 28th league goal of the campaign in the 70th minute. Second-placed Real have 76 points with seven games left, eight points behind leaders Barcelona.

Francesco Totti scored with the last kick of the game as Roma boosted their hopes of a top-four finish in Serie A with a dramatic 2-1 win at Udinese. After a dour first period, Totti gave Roma the lead from the penalty spot on 57th minute. Udinese seemed to have rescued a point when Antonio Di Natale scored on 87th minutes until Totti seals Roma's win in injury time.

Maicon scored his first goal in a year as Inter Milan overcame Chievo 2-0 to move to within two points of Serie A leaders AC Milan. The Brazilian wing-back sealed the three points for Leonardo's side when he scored on the 84th minute. Maicon's last Serie A goal came against Juventus in a 2-0 win 12 months ago. Esteban Cambiasso strucked the opening goal for the Champions League holders on 66th minute. The win ended a bleak run of games for Inter coming after a 3-0 leaguie loss to Milan last week in the San Siro and a 5-2 reverse at home to Schalke in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.
