Spanish Giants Chase Jonathan Viera Ramos

Barcelona and Real Madrid are both interested in securing the rights of young UD Las Palmas playmaker Jonathan Viera Ramos, German tabloid Bild and Spanish newspaper Marca report.

The little Brazilian (5'6"), who has been followed by the biggest clubs in Spain for quite some time, has been a revelation for the Canary Islands club in Spain's Segunda Division this season. Viera, who is nicknamed "Romario," is fast, versatile and skillful, and the scouting report suggests his best position is as a second striker though the technically gifted youngster has also played as an attacking midfielder for Las Palmas.

According to Marca, Viera is more of a provider than a natural goal scorer and remains a rough diamond. Viera's contract with Las Palmas expires in 2012 and he has a €6 million buy-out clause. Osasuna, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla are also alleged to be interested.

From the few clips of him online he looks like a good young prospect, but he would not be an immediate upgrade to the current starting wingers and attacking midfielders at Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively.
