Rooney's "Off-Field Score" Costs Him £12M

Wayne Rooney's fortune has been slashed by £12million after lurid reports about his private life.

The wealth of the Manchester United and England striker, 24, is now estimated at £25m — a third less than 12 months ago.

David Beckham remains the richest player by far in FourFourTwo's Football Rich List but has his wealth has plunged £25m to £100m in the past year.

, who is worth an estimated £20bn, took the top spot overall. The Manchester City owner replaces QPR’s Lakshmi Mittal, whose fortune fell from £18.4bn to £17bn.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich continued his slide down the rankings to fourth. The Russian, 43, is now said to be worth £7.8bn.
