Another Amazing Comeback In Bundesliga

Adam Szalai scored in the 85th minute to complete Mainz's comeback from a three-goal deficit to win at Wolfsburg and spoil the Bundesliga return of Brazilian superstar Diego.

Edin Dzeko struck in the 24th and 28th minutes and Diego made it 3-0 after 30 minutes. Morten Rasmussen cut the deficit to 3-1 in the 39th minute, then Elkin Soto struck in the 48th and Andre Schurlle levelled the game at 3-3 in the 58th minute before Szalai's winner.

It was Wolfsburg's second straight defeat to start the season under new boss Steve McClaren. Dzeko opened the scoring after 23 minutes running onto a loose ball and taking it around two Mainz defenders before rounding keeper Christian Wetklo and pushing home with his left foot.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina frontman struck again just four minutes later as he fed Marko Mandzukic on the left wing and then flicked the return pass to the far right corner for a 2-0 lead. Diego netted on the half-hour mark, running onto a horrible backpass by Bo Svensson before dribbling around Wetklo and pushing home with his left foot.

But the Wolfsburg defence failed to clear a ball six minutes before the break and Soto's long-range left-foot shot was deflected in by Rasmussen off the right post as Mainz trimmed the deficit to 3-1. The margin was just 3-2 after 48 minutes with Lewis Holtby's cross from the right side found Soto, who hit home just inside the left post.

And the game was even 10 minutes later thanks to Schurrle's long-range shot to the far right post. Mainz continued to push forward and look for the win and finally struck again through Szalai, who collected Radoslav Zabavnik's pass before turning and beating Wolfsburg keeper Diego Benaglio to the lower left side.
